Picston Shottle has been making a big impact in America, being the first British bred and tested bull in history to top the Holstein World annual sales review.
Shottle, who is owned by the UK based breeding company Genus ABS, has taken top place on the listing. Holstein World analysis’s all the US cattle sales that have taken place in 2006, showing the top sellers and also publishing a list of bulls that sired the highest average price per lot sold. Shottle came out at Number 1 with an average of his progeny standing at $8,825 on 104 lots sold, and this was a massive $600 more than the next sire.
“We are extremely pleased that Shottle is being recognised around the world and this review shows the incredible confidence that breeders from around the world have in Shottle and UK Genetics,” commented Andrew Rutter, Breeding Programme Manager for Genus ABS. “His ability to breed great type, longevity and production ensures that Shottle will add real value to any herd, wherever it is in the world.”
